RAF fighter jets intercepted ‘concerning’ Jet2 flight.

The aircraft was escorted safely to Stansted Airport, where it was met by police upon landing, according to the Ministry of Defence.

In response to rumors of a security warning, RAF fighter jets were dispatched to intercept a commercial airplane that was “creating worry.”

Typhoon jets were dispatched to intercept a Jet2 flight from Dalaman, Turkey, to Manchester.

The aircraft was escorted safely to Stansted Airport, where it was met by police upon landing, according to the Ministry of Defence.

A representative for the RAF stated, “The RAF can confirm that Quick Reaction Alert Typhoon aircraft were dispatched this evening from RAF Coningsby to intercept a suspicious civilian aircraft.”

Essex Police said: “We directed a safety operation that resulted in the diversion of a Jet2.com flight from Dalaman to Manchester to London Stansted Airport this evening, October 12th.

“We received a report of a potential threat on board the airplane shortly before 9 p.m. It landed safely at Stansted Airport and was parked away from the main passenger terminal.

The runway was temporarily closed while inquiries were conducted.

The police stated they were afterward able to determine there was no threat on board.

In a statement, Jet2 said: “Customers have now exited the aircraft, which has landed safely and taxied to a remote stand.

“Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience or distress caused by this unavoidable occurrence. Our teams are working diligently to assist clients, and we apologize for any difficulty or distress caused by this unavoidable incident.

“According to our knowledge, the authorities were notified of a potential security danger; nevertheless, this has been lowered, and the issue has been deemed over.”
