Rishi Sunak might embark on a trip to Israel on Thursday.

Regional Diplomatic Activities

This week, the Prime Minister might make a stop in Israel en route to a larger regional excursion.

Sunak’s Impending Visit

Rishi Sunak is rumored to be in Israel by Thursday at the latest.

Expanding the Regional Engagement

Jordan and Egypt may be included in a broader visit to the region that the Prime Minister may undertake.

This follows the visits today by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and on Wednesday by US President Joe Biden, respectively.

International Concerns and Responses

In the midst of increasing apprehension regarding the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, there have been demands to establish aid corridors, while the Israeli military readies itself for the subsequent stage of its operation against Hamas following the incursion on October 7.

Hamas’s unexpected attack on Israel, its bloodiest in decades, killed 1,400, injured thousands, and captured nearly 200.

Following that period, Israel has retaliated against Gaza with airstrikes, which have claimed the lives of at least 2,778 Palestinians and prevented the entry of fuel, water, food, and medical supplies into the confined territory inhabited by over two million individuals.

Humanitarian Crisis and Diplomatic Efforts

Vice President Biden will visit Israel on Wednesday amid concerns that the dispute could expand into a regional crisis.

Efforts for Peace and Assistance

The President of the United States will also meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, and King Abdullah of Jordan as part of his mission.

On Tuesday, in an update to the Cabinet on the latest developments in the conflict, Mr. Sunak informed ministers that “murder and suspected abduction of British nationals” were attributable to Hamas.

The Hamas attacks killed at least six Britons and left ten missing, some assumed dead.

Additionally, during phone conversations with the leaders of Saudi Arabia and Qatar, it was agreed that the conflict “must not be permitted to destabilize the broader region or incite additional violence.”

UK officials want to open Rafah so Britons may evacuate to Egypt and humanitarian aid can enter Gaza.
