A 14-year-old is arrested on suspicion of murdering another 14-year-old.

A 14-year-old boy was detained on suspicion of murdering a 14-year-old boy who died in Gateshead after being attacked.

At approximately 8 p.m. on Monday, Northumbria Police discovered a teenager with injuries “consistent with having been caused by a bladed instrument” in the Aycliffe Crescent neighborhood of the Springwell Estate.

After he died in hospital in the early hours of Tuesday, a murder inquiry was initiated, and a 14-year-old kid was apprehended and detained.

A 13-year-old girl was also arrested on accusations of aiding a criminal and is currently detained.

The victim’s family is being assisted by officers with specialized training.

Chief Superintendent Helena Barron commented, “A teenager has tragically passed away, and his family is beyond belief saddened.”

“Our sympathies are with his family at this time, and we are doing everything we can to assist them.

“We are determined to determine precisely what transpired, and a thorough inquiry into the facts surrounding this unfortunate tragedy is currently underway.

“Two juveniles have been arrested in connection with the incident, and officers will continue to investigate and reassure the people in the neighborhood.

While crimes of this sort are uncommon in our region, we are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice whenever they do occur.
