Tom Hollander received Avengers bonus in error

  • Tom Hollander receives mistaken cheque
  • Confusion over similar names
  • Actor Brian Cox shares struggles

A million dollars does not appear in your account by chance every day.

However, Tom Hollander, protagonist of The White Lotus, disclosed that the incident occurred when he received a cheque intended for Spider-Man actor Tom Holland.

Hollander told Late Night host Seth Meyers, “People in the accounts department became confused when we were momentarily with the same agents.”

He joked further, “It’s been extremely difficult, as you are aware that I arrived here first, but he’s immensely famous.”

Hollander noticed the mistake while watching a theatre friend collect a £300 reward.

“I sat smugly in the audience, having just completed a BBC programme for approximately £30,000, which would be sufficient to support me for the next year or so. I thought to myself, ‘Well, this is fantastic; I’m quite prosperous.'”

During the interval, a paystub titled “Box office bonus for The Avengers” was discovered in one of his emails.

“The sum of money was astounding,” the 56-year-old informed Meyers. “He did not receive his salary.” It marked his initial box office success. It’s not only some of the initial box office windfalls. Furthermore, it was the most money I had ever seen. The amount reached seven figures.

“My sense of arrogance vanished,” he further stated.

Holland, who is dating Zendaya of Euphoria, has played Spider-Man in six MCU films.

Hollander stated, “While I am never mistaken for him in visual situations, I am frequently mistaken for him in non-visual ones.”

When conversing with utility companies or encountering children who initially stimulate, perplex, and disillusion me.

Although similar names can lead to confusion, even greater confusion occurs when two celebrities share the same name.

Actor and physicist Brian Cox discussed the confusion their identical names have caused in November 2022.

Each person said they were often approached by people expecting “the other” Brian Cox.

Even physicist Cox stated that a hotel informed him he needed to use a different name because their system could not accommodate two distinct reservations made under the same name.
