A “delusional” stalker who targeted actress Claire Foy in a “terrifying” campaign will be returned to the United States.

Last year, Jason Penrose was issued a stalking protection order (SPO) after sending The Crown star dozens of emails and showing up at her residence.

He is also guilty of two counts of violating a temporary order prohibiting stalking by delivering a lette. And a package to the Golden Globe winner.

Foy, 38, considered the 49-year-old stalker’s activities to be “very frightening,” according to court testimony.

Friday at his sentencing hearing at the Old Bailey. Penrose was spared jail time and consented to be returned to the United States.

He was sentenced to 22 months in prison with two years suspended.

Foy was the subject of a stalker’s “obsession.”

Judge David Aaronberg KC stated that he remained “concerned” that Penrose, a paranoid schizophrenic, may continue to be “infatuated” with Foy, despite being repeatedly informed that she does not want any contact with him.

The terms of his suspended sentence include remaining under the supervision of a psychiatrist in the United Kingdom. Until his repatriation and cooperating completely with his return to the United States.

The court was informed that he will move back to Florida to live with his mother. And obtain additional psychiatric treatment.

In addition, Judge Aaronberg issued a restraining order prohibiting him from contacting or attempting to contact Foy directly or indirectly, as well as from giving her any letters, packages, or presents.

Penrose is also restricted from entering the London boroughs of Camden and Islington, except retrieving his US passport. And from coming within 100 meters of any property where he believes Foy may be present.

Foy has “become scared and suspicious of mail she does not recognise. And of her front doorbell ringing” in reaction to the stalking, the judge claimed.

“She informed the police she was afraid to leave her home for fear that you might follow her,” the judge said.

Foy is “afraid” due to the stalker’s behavior.

The judge, citing a statement from the actress, stated, “I feel as though the liberties I enjoyed before Mr. Penrose contacted me have been taken away.”

“My view of the world has become much more frightening.”

At the time the SPO was issued, District Judge Michael Oliver stated that the order was “essential” owing to Mr. Penrose’s “continued and repeated behavior due to his delusional belief regarding Ms. Foy.”

Penrose sent an email to Foy’s agency claiming he was a film director and producer. Who wanted her to star in his next project.

Foy told her agency that she did not recognize him, and between November 2 and mid-December. He sent over a thousand emails, contacted the star’s sister, and showed up at her home after locating it.

According to court documents, emails were also sent to Foy’s publicist, Emma Jackson, with the subject line “wanting her to be his girlfriend.”

The doorbell rang “constantly”

The papers stated that on 17 December 2021, Foy called the police to say that Penrose was “constantly ringing her doorbell outside her apartment.”

Penrose was scheduled to be sentenced in December at Wood Green Crown Court. But the case was postponed while additional assurances were sought that Penrose. Who is in the United Kingdom unlawfully, would be deported following sentencing.

Before the hearing in December, the court also got a letter from someone having “some type of fixation” with Foy, according to Judge David Aaronberg.

Penrose, who has been hospitalized for treatment of mental illness. Denied sending the letter and stated from the dock, “They misspelled my name.”

Foy, who won a Golden Globe for her role in The Crown. Also acted in Steven Soderbergh’s psychological film Unsane and as Janet Shearon, Neil Armstrong’s wife, in the biopic First Man.
