Daniel Craig recounts filming Knives Out in Greece amid London Film Festival lockdown.

Craig states that filming Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery was an “awesome experience,” but that COVID constraints limited the cast and crew’s mobility.

The murder-mystery film Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery ended this year’s London Film Festival.

Daniel Craig reprises his role as investigator Benoit Blanc in the sequel to the 2019 smash hit Knives Out.

The Bond actor told that he was thrilled to be at the closing night of the London Film Festival.

“Especially considering the great quality of films this year, to be in that number is very remarkable.”

New to the franchise is the rest of Glass Onion’s ensemble cast, including Edward Norton, Kate Hudson, and Janelle Monae.

As a result of filming in Greece during the pandemic, the group developed close as they were obliged to spend more time together.

Craig stated, “It was a great experience.”

“Because of the lockdown, we were somewhat constrained in our travels, so we couldn’t go too far.

“It was almost 150 degrees in the shade, but those are upper-class difficulties.”

Kate Hudson, whose character is a former supermodel turned fashion designer, told that the group got along splendidly.

“It was enjoyable, but there was a lot of work in between, you know?

“However, we were a cast that worked hard and played hard, so we were well-suited to each other and had a lot of fun.

It was COVID, so we had no choice but to play together for three months. As a result, we became quite close and had a great time.

Following its global premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, the film is screened in London.

This year, both events will take place in person, and Hudson is “overjoyed” about it.

“It feels as if we’ve been hungry for it if you’re in the industry,” she remarked.

“It is of the utmost importance to commemorate film and all of the great artists who have dedicated their lives to bringing art to humanity through cinema.

Thus are these celebrations… I adore them, I enjoy being a part of them, and it’s great to see everyone back in the theatre.”

Three years ago, writer and director Rian Johnson debuted the original Knives Out at the London Film Festival.

He told that collecting the ensemble for the sequel was difficult on paper, but worked out well in practice.

Johnson explained, “Because everyone is so busy these days, it’s always difficult to gather a group of people to commit to coming out and doing something.”

“However, if you had told me before I began writing the group that we would receive, I would have become quite anxious and would have been unable to complete writing.

The fact that we were able to work with Kathryn Hahn, Edward Norton, Kate Hudson, and Janelle Monae, a director’s dream cast, made my job incredibly simple.

Positive early reviews for the film have shifted focus to the third installment.

In 2021, Netflix reportedly spent about £400 million on two Knives Out sequels.

Johnson states that he and Craig are thrilled to continue filming, acknowledging that they have a great deal of fun on-site.

There’s a lot of giggling between us when we’re filming, I mean, that’s the whole point,” he explained.

“The true reason we continue producing these things is that we had so much fun and got along so well on the first one, and on this one, it felt like we had even more fun.

So long as these remain entertaining and we can find something new to do each time to keep shocking the audience and keeping them interested, we will continue to produce them.

However, audiences in the United Kingdom will have to wait a bit longer to see Glass Onion; it won’t be released in theatres here until November, and it won’t be available on Netflix until the following month.
