Irish service station explosion causes ‘serious injuries’

Following a suspected gas explosion in Ireland, several individuals are hurt.

There are indications of significant casualties following what is believed to be a gas explosion at an Irish gas station.

The explosion occurred at the Applegreen gas station on the outskirts of Creeslough, County Donegal, shortly after 3 p.m.

In addition to ambulance staff and a Coast Guard helicopter, a Coast Guard team was also dispatched to the area.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) announced that it is aiding Donegal Fire Service crews at a “declared significant incident.”

Photographs depicted several cars damaged by debris, as well as what seems to be a severely damaged apartment building behind the forecourt.

Councillor John O’Donnell stated, “I am aware that there have been major casualties; this is a tragic situation.”

Mr. O’Donnell stated that an air ambulance had picked up a patient with “several parties,’ adding, ‘Our is quite difficult in this small remote community.’

“Everyone here is utterly numb; we’re all in shock.”

A spokeswoman for Letterkenny University Hospital stated that the institution was “dealing with a significant event involving numerous injured individuals who require rapid care.”

“As a result of this occurrence, the hospital has shifted to Major Emergency Standby.

The public is urged not to visit the Emergency Department unless it is an actual emergency.

Applegreen confirmed that a “severe event” occurred at one of its dealer-operated stores.

Thomas Pringle, a Donegal-based independent TD, tweeted: “This evening’s dreadful news from Creeslough has left me in a state of profound sadness.

“My sympathies go out to everyone impacted.

Sincere gratitude to everyone who responded so promptly.

Residents have been instructed to avoid the area.
