He was 67.

His spouse, Andre Portasio, expressed his “deepest gratitude” for the “overwhelming outpouring of support and love I have received since the passing of our beloved Paul O’Grady” on Monday in local Facebook groups.

“Your kind messages, beautiful flowers, and considerate condolence texts have comforted and consoled me during this trying time.

“I am incredibly grateful for the support and love I have received from our community, and we want to thank every one of you for your kindness and generosity,” he said.

On Thursday, April 20, a private funeral will be conducted for O’Grady, according to him.

But he added that the television star “cared deeply about his local community,” so a funeral procession will travel through Aldington on its way to the church “as a tribute to Paul’s love for the area.”

Residents are welcome to stand on Roman Road, Forge Hill, or New Road Hill on Thursday between 2:10 and 2:45 p.m., but Mr. Portasio requests that they “respect the villagers and the local area.”

O’Grady resided in Aldington, close to Ashford, for over two decades and was well-known in the community.

Local media report that he attended summer fetes, supported the elementary school, and judged a local canine show held on the village green last year.

In 2017, he wed Mr. Portasio, a former professional dancer.
