Two dead and two missing after Italian lake boat carrying British tourists overturns in whirlwind.

The tornado was a component of a storm system that struck northern Lombardy on Sunday evening.

On Italy’s Lake Maggiore, a boat transporting at least 20 tourists and crew members capsized due to a tornado.

According to media reports from Italy, at least two individuals have died and two others are missing.

Attilio Fontana, the president of Lombardy, characterized the incident as “extremely serious.”

The Italian fire department reported that 19 individuals have been rescued, with many reportedly swimming to shore.

According to Sky Italia, British passengers were on board the vessel, which Mr. Fontana said was chartered by vacationers.

According to the Italian news website La Repubblica, the boat capsized and sank while transporting up to 25 people celebrating a birthday.

Divers, boats, and a helicopter have been observed conducting ongoing rescue operations.

A firefighter’s video showed floating timber in the lake as a helicopter flew above.

The tornado was part of a storm system that struck northern Lombardy on Sunday evening, delaying flights at Malpensa airport.
