Royal Mail releases Iron Maiden stamps.

Members of the legendary heavy metal band Iron Maiden have joined an elite club of musicians to get their postage stamps.

The new set of 12 stamps is available for pre-order beginning Thursday.

All current members of the band are featured on eight stamps depicting images from their international tours throughout the years.

Eddie, the band’s iconic mascot, appears on four of the stamps.

Following The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queen, and The Rolling Stones. They are the fifth group to be honored with a stamp issue.

The photographs in the collection date from 1980 to 2018, and include a photo from their Hammersmith performance in 1983. And a Twickenham Stadium performance in 2008.

Additionally, there are group photographs, like one of Dave Murray, Bruce Dickinson, and Janick Gers in Rio de Janeiro, in January 2001.

Eddie is depicted on one stamp as the band’s debut album’s cover. And another as a Samurai warrior, reflecting the artwork on the band’s most recent record.

The band’s eight stamps are priced at £11.70, while Eddie’s four are marketed at $5.60.

Both sets, containing a combination of first-class and £1.85 stamps, will be available beginning January 12.

Other things, including postcards, are being released as part of the collection.

Steve Harris, the founding member, and bassist stated that the band was stunned by the effort. And dumbfounded when they first saw the stamps.

He remarked, “They look fantastic, and I believe they reflect the soul and intensity of Maiden.” We are ecstatic that Royal Mail has chosen to honor the band’s legacy in this way. And we believe that our fans will feel the same way.”

‘Bona fide rock legends’

Iron Maiden, which was founded by Steve Harris in east London in 1975, has sold more than 130 million albums worldwide. And is regarded as one of the most influential rock bands of all time.

They have won Grammys and Brit Awards and have just concluded their Legacy Of The Beast World Tour. Where they performed for more than three million fans.

Senjutsu, the group’s most recent album, was released in September and debuted at number one in 27 countries.

The Future Past Tour, which will begin in Europe this summer, was recently announced by Iron Maiden.

David Gold, director of external public relations and policy at Royal Mail, added, “Few bands in the history of rock music can be described as bona fide rock legends, but Iron Maiden are precisely that – and more.

“With legions of loyal fans of all ages and from every part of the globe. They have not only altered the way rock music sounds, but also the way it appears. We are confident that their admirers will appreciate these stamps as much as we do.”
