Sky launches Sky Stream TV box with Netflix for just £1 a day amid cost-of-living issue.

Sky has introduced a new “cheap” TV streaming box that begins at less than £1 per day in response to the rising cost of living.

The palm-sized Sky Stream unit can be connected to any TV to stream video over Wi-Fi without the installation of a satellite dish.

It provides subscribers with access to over 150 channels and 100,000 hours of entertainment, beginning at £26 per month for an 18-month subscription, and includes Netflix.

Sky Stream, according to the broadcasting company, is the most affordable option to combine Sky TV with Netflix on the market.

Sky Stream is the successor to Sky Glass, the first-ever streaming television produced by Sky and debuted a year ago.

Sky Stream, Sky’s newest innovation on the Sky Glass Platform, is now available for purchase in the United Kingdom, the London-based television firm said in a statement.

Sky Stream provides the best entertainment streamed directly to any Wi-Fi-enabled television without the need for a satellite dish or installation.

Sky Stream includes a remote and is compatible with any TV with an HDMI port. It contains Freeview TV as well as a variety of Sky Entertainment channels, such as Sky Atlantic, Sky Documentaries, and Sky Witness.

Sky Atlantic, which is often known for presenting American shows, has recently aired popular British programs such as the crime thriller Gangs of London and the dark comedy I Hate Suzie.

Sky Stream additionally provides access to a variety of apps within the Sky interface, including Apple TV+, Amazon Prime, Disney+, BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, and All4.

Sky Stream also includes Netflix Basic, the cheapest ad-free membership option offered by Netflix.

Sky Stream is offered for £26 per month for an 18-month commitment or £29 per month for a rolling monthly subscription; however, both options need a one-time installation cost.

The 18-month contract has a £20 set-up fee, while the rolling contract has a £39.95 set-up fee; therefore, launching Sky Stream will cost at least £50.

Sky Stream shares the same sophisticated user interface as Sky Glass, which includes restart live TV’, playlists, and intelligent recommendations.

A voice control feature also enables users to find shows and operate the interface by speaking instead of tapping buttons on the remote.

However, not everything is available in Sky Stream; the company maintains a list of channels that are not included in the Sky Stream subscription, including Sky Cinema, Sky Kids, Sky Sports, and BT Sport.

Sky Cinema (which offers the newly-launched streaming service Paramount+) and Sky Sports and BT Sport are also available as add-ons.

Sky debuted Sky Glass as its first television with built-in streaming services in 2016, eliminating the need for satellite dishes and cumbersome set-up.

Now, the company claims that Sky Stream is the appropriate offering for those who do not wish to replace their existing television.

The company states, “Sky Stream is the newest addition to Sky’s TV product family, offering a variety of ways to enjoy incredible programming.”

Sky Glass is the only TV with Sky built in, integrating breakthrough hardware, software, and content for the smartest TV experience to date, without the need for a satellite dish or set-top box.
