Samantha Womack updates fans on cancer treatment

Samantha Womack, best known for her role as Ronnie Mitchell in EastEnders, disclosed she had breast cancer earlier this year while paying respect to Olivia Newton-John after her passing. She has informed her fans of the next treatment that she would undertake.

Samantha Womack thanks followers for their support after revealing she is undergoing treatment for breast cancer and provided an update on her condition.

The 49-year-old actress revealed that she had a lumpectomy and will soon begin chemotherapy.

In a video shared with her 86,000 Instagram followers, she stated, “I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has sent me love since I shared my breast cancer battle story.

“Just to give you an update, I’ve had my surgery. I had a lumpectomy and lymph node excision, and I’m about to begin my first chemotherapy treatment.”

“I have read all of your stories and messages,” Womack continued. They have truly blown me away. And I wanted to express my gratitude. I am quite humbled that everyone has reached out to me. So I will keep you informed. Thank you so much and sending you all lots of love.”

She rose to prominence in the 1990s as Mandy in the British comedy Game On and has since acted in numerous films, television series, and stage productions, including the comedy-drama Mount Pleasant and the blockbuster spy thriller Kingsman.

She initially intended to pursue a career in singing and represented the United Kingdom in the 1991 Eurovision Song Contest with her performance of “A Message to Your Heart.

The actress disclosed she had breast cancer while posting a tribute to the late Olivia Newton-John, who fought the disease for many years before her death in August.

She tweeted a photo of herself and her daughter Chloe with the Grease actor and stated, “I now begin my fight against terrible sickness.”

The photograph was taken during Womack’s performance as Sandy in the West End version of the blockbuster musical.

Friends of the actress, including TV presenter Denise van Outen, All Saints singer Natalie Appleton, and EastEnders co-star Tamzin Outhwaite, have written messages of support in response to her newest update, with Outhwaite saying, “Oh baby. Sending you positive energy, love, and light. You are very courageous, and I do not doubt that you will overcome all hurdles.”
