Patel’s representative stated that the celebrity “acted on impulse.” The victim of the stabbing is anticipated to live.

“We can confirm that Dev Patel and his pals witnessed a violent brawl outside of a convenience store in Adelaide late last night,” Patel’s reps told.
“Dev acted on his instinct to de-escalate the situation and stop the fight. The group’s efforts were happily successful, and they waited at the scene until the police and then the ambulance arrived.”

South Australia Police stated that officers were summoned at approximately 8:45 p.m. (local time) in response to complaints of a man and woman arguing in the street.

Witnesses attempted to break up the couple’s fight at a nearby gas station when the lady allegedly stabbed the man in the chest.

A 32-year-old man from Glengowrie was treated at the scene before being transported to the Royal Adelaide Hospital by ambulance authorities.

The statement from Patel’s team stated, “There are no heroes in this situation, and unfortunately, this occurrence underscores a bigger systemic problem of marginalized segments of society not receiving the decency and respect they deserve.

“It is hoped that the same amount of media exposure this topic is receiving (because of Dev’s involvement as a celebrity) would catalyze for lawmakers to be compassionate in identifying long-term solutions to aid not only the individuals involved but also the community.”

The situation and the accused assailant’s motivation have not been clarified.

Patel made his debut in the British teen drama Skins. He has since been in The Green Knight, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, and Lion, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award.
