Bill Cosby: Nine Nevada women sue comedian for sexual abuse.

Nine women have filed a lawsuit against the disgraced comedian Bill Cosby, alleging him of using his “enormous power, fame, and prestige” to sexually assault them.

The women allege that between 1979 and 1992, the former actor and comedian drugged and assaulted them in Nevada residences, dressing rooms, and hotels.

Recently, the state has eliminated its deadline for filing such claims.

Mr. Cosby’s spokesman stated that their motivations were “addiction to massive amounts of media attention and greed”.

The 85-year-old former star of The Cosby Show is facing further civil and criminal charges.

In 2021, a technicality reversed his 2018 conviction for drugging and assaulting a lady.

In a civil trial held last June, the jury determined that he sexually assaulted a minor at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles in 1975 and awarded her $500,000 (£407,000) in damages.

This month, former Playboy model Victoria Valentino sued him for assaulting her in 1969 after dinner. More than sixty women have leveled allegations against him.

Some of those involved in the most recent lawsuit have previously made accusations against him in public. Former Cosby Show guest star Lili Bernard and model and personality Janice Dickinson allege that he drugged and assaulted them.

The statute of limitations for sexual abuse cases involving adults has been lifted in Nevada. Previously, accusers were required to submit civil cases within two years.

Andrew Wyatt, Cosby’s representative, criticized these so-called “lookback laws”

“From this day forward, we will no longer permit these women to parade disparate accounts of an alleged allegation against Mr. Cosby without vetting them in the court of public opinion and within the courtroom,” he stated.
