Mathias Pogba, the brother of Paul Pogba, was arrested in connection with a £11 million extortion attempt.

Paul Pogba, the France World Cup champion, believes he has already paid nearly £90,000 to the organization, but they have sought millions more.

The brother of former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has been arrested and “put under formal investigation” on allegations that he was a member of a group that attempted to extort millions of dollars from the player.

A court source informed Reuters that Mathias Pogba is being probed on suspicion of “gang-based extortion and membership in a criminal group.”

On Saturday, four other individuals who appeared alongside Mathias Pogba before a judge was also placed under formal inquiry. Three individuals were ordered detained.

Mathias has refuted the claims made against him in social media postings.

Paul Pogba, who won the 2018 World Cup with France, was allegedly the subject of extortion by an organized group, which included his brother and boyhood pals, according to an investigation launched by French authorities last month.

They allegedly sought €13m (£11m) from the midfielder, who returned to Juventus during the summer transfer window and frightened him on multiple occasions, claiming he did not support them when he became an international footballer.

According to a source close to the investigation, Pogba confirmed to investigators that he had previously paid €100,000 (£86,800) to the organization.

It occurred after the brother of the Juventus star stated that he intended to make “big discoveries” that would cause fans and teammates to view him differently.

Mathias Pogba’s social media video promised to reveal “extremely crucial stuff” concerning Paris Saint-Germain phenom Kylian Mbappe, along with “ethics” concerns about Pogba’s agent Rafaela Pimentel.
