Nuclear reactor repair disrupted 16% of France’s electricity supply during protests.

Approximately 16% of the nation’s total power production was disrupted, according to data from grid operator RTE, as protests against President Macron’s pension reforms persist.

Due to the strike against the government’s proposed pension reforms, maintenance at nine French nuclear reactors was disrupted.

A CGT union spokesperson said 8.2 gigawatts of thermal, hydro, and nuclear electricity was stopped.

According to data from utility operator RTE, this amounted to roughly 16% of the country’s total electricity production.

However, imports from neighboring countries amounted to less than one gigawatt, indicating that supply met demand.

All of the reactors were managed by EDF.

On the eleventh day of national strikes, approximately 100 demonstrators blocked a road leading to terminal one at Charles de Gaulle Airport and entered the terminal building on Thursday.

Again, thousands congregated in cities to protest President Emmanuel Macron’s controversial pension reforms. Which would raise the retirement age in France from 62 to 64.

In Paris, demonstrators torched one of Mr. Macron’s favorite restaurants, La Rotonde brasserie. While rat catchers threw dead rodents at the city hall “to demonstrate the harsh reality of their mission,” a CGT union leader said at the time.
