Baldwin has disputed culpability for the shooting, stating that live ammunition should never have been permitted on set and that the safety of firearms was the duty of weapons handlers.

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the film’s armorer, has also been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Legal observers have stated that prosecutors may have a difficult time convicting Baldwin without evidence that he knew live ammo was available.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating how live ammunition got into the film set in the first place.

The film’s completion is still on schedule, according to Melina Spadone, an attorney with Rust Movie Productions.

She said that the project will have safety supervisors and will prevent the use of functional weapons. Live ammunition has never been permitted on set.
