Rockets kill 11, including children, Ukrainian official claims

  • Ukrainian forces cross into Russia
  • Russian missile strike in Pokrovsk
  • Eleven killed, including five minors

A local official reports that eleven individuals, including five minors, were killed in eastern Ukraine by a Russian missile strike.

Pokrovsk, located on Ukrainian-held territory in the Donetsk region, was struck by S-300 missiles, according to the regional governor.

“In an attempt to sow as much misery as possible, the enemy is cynically targeting civilians,” Governor Vadim Filashkin wrote on Telegram.

As stated in President Volodymyr Zelensky’s evening video address, Russian forces had targeted residential areas.

Such attacks should invariably result in repercussions for Russia, Mr. Zelensky continued.

Russia has not provided a comment as of yet.

Pokrovsk is located approximately 70 kilometres (43 miles) to the northwest of the Russian-occupied city of Donetsk.

It had a population of about 60,000 individuals before the conflict. Several inhabitants have resumed their residences, notwithstanding the official advisories regarding the perils.

In August, a Russian missile strike on the town resulted in the deaths of at least nine individuals and the injuries of dozens more.

Following Moscow’s most extensive aerial bombardment of the week, Ukrainian forces crossed the border into Russia with over seventy uncrewed aerial vehicles earlier this week. This resulted in the evacuation of Belgorod in the south-western direction.
