The unsettling weather in the UK is a result of the devastating bomb cyclone that caused temperatures to plummet in the United States during Christmas.

According to the Met Office, public transportation, particularly bus and train services, will likely be impacted, and spray and flooding on roadways might lengthen travel times.

It also warned that some houses and businesses could be flooded.

The Met Office website advises drivers to never drive into flooding.

The leading cause of mortality during floods is driving through floodwaters, thus the safest suggestion is to turn around and avoid drowning.

Although the water may appear shallow, just 12 inches (30 centimeters) of moving water can float your vehicle, perhaps transporting it to deeper water from which you may require rescue.”

People traveling to Scotland for Hogmanay on Friday were caught in flooding created by fronts that traveled from the United States to the United Kingdom across the Atlantic.

The Met Office issued weather warnings for rain, snow, and ice, and there were substantial transportation disruptions, including the cancellation of many trains and heavy traffic on the roadways.
