Ryan Reynolds’ non-league team wins FA Cup Championship Wrexham beat Coventry

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney purchased Wrexham AFC in February 2021 to reverse the team’s poor performance on the field. Additionally, the two have produced a documentary about their endeavor.

Wrexham, a non-league team co-owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Eliminated Coventry City from the FA Cup, leaving Reynolds “speechless.”

Sam Dalby, Elliot Lee, Thomas O’Connor, and Paul Mullin all scored for the Welsh team in their 4-3 victory over the Sky Blues at the CBS Arena in Coventry.

At one point, the visitors led Coventry, a team three levels above them, 2-0, prompting Reynolds to tweet “What. The. F***. Is. Happening?”

Reynolds’ squad advanced to the competition’s fourth round for the first time since 2000. Wrexham led 4-1 when the home team recovered with two more goals. But it was not enough to deny Reynolds’ squad a place in the competition’s fourth round.

Following the last horn, the actor tweeted: “I am utterly and completely dumbfounded. Such a club! What a city! What success! Wrexham AFC forever.”

On Sunday, the fourth-round draw will take place, and Wrexham could face Leicester City, Reading, or Tottenham Hotspur.

This weekend, non-league Chesterfield drew 3-3 with Championship West Brom in the FA Cup. Resulting in a replay between the two teams.

Reynolds, well known for his appearances in The Proposal and Deadpool, and McElhenney. Who stars in the cult US sitcom It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, purchased the Welsh club in February 2021. And subsequently produced the documentary Welcome To Wrexham.

As Wrexham celebrated its new status as a city in November, the two welcomed King Charles to the club.

Reynolds and McElhenney are not the only Hollywood celebrities who own a British football club. Michael B Jordan, star of Creed and Black Panther, was unveiled as a co-owner of Bournemouth AFC in Dorset last month.
