  • Swansea store search uncovers hidden contraband with detection dogs
  • Council’s crackdown reveals widespread illegal vape and tobacco sales

The vapes, according to trading standards officers of Swansea Council, are worth over £47,000 on the black market.

Officials report the discovery of thousands of illicit vapes in a defunct shelter from World War II.

While searching a Swansea store, specialized canines that detect tobacco and vaping devices discovered the contraband in a backyard.

An investigation is currently underway, according to Swansea Council, following the discovery of the vapes with a street value of over £47,000.

Additionally, substantial quantities of counterfeit tobacco and cigarettes were discovered.

The discovery of substantial quantities of “illegal tobacco and vapes” concealed in a “purpose-built hidden compartment within a shop” was the result of a second operation conducted in the city center.

The council stated that its most recent operations were conducted to combat the illegal sale of vapes.

Recently, trading standards officers from the city of London discovered over £1.5 million worth of illicit vapes in a storage facility.

Rhys Harries, trading standards officer at Swansea Council, stated that consumer information was assisting in the “trace back of illegal vape and tobacco-selling establishments in the city.”

He added that in recent months, we have been exceedingly busy investigating several cases and successfully prosecuting several individuals.

Our most recent findings demonstrate the extent to which individuals are willing to conceal these illicit products; consequently, we strive to remain one step ahead by employing our expertise and knowledge to locate them.
