“He was shell-shocked when he arrived and was on his way to the hospital to be at his wife’s bedside – he must now not only mourn the loss of his two small children, but also his wife.”

Following a joint fire and police investigation, a triple murder investigation has been initiated.

On Sunday night, a 31-year-old male from Clifton was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

His interrogation by detectives has been extended, and he remains in detention.

The investigation’s leader, Detective Chief Inspector Mark Sinski, stated: “The murder of two small children and their mother is one of the most heinous crimes we have encountered.

“This is a tragic event, and I can only understand the family’s suffering. They include the woman’s husband and the children’s father, who were not in the United Kingdom at the time of the fire.”

He continued, “A huge team of police has been investigating the facts surrounding this unfortunate tragedy day and night.”

The fire, which began at approximately 3:17 am, was doused at approximately 4 am.

During the incident, neighboring residences were briefly evacuated.
