  • Liverpool’s support and response
  • President Petro’s involvement

Liverpool asserts that they are “aware of an ongoing situation” concerning Luis Diaz’s family, following rumors that his parents have been abducted in Colombia.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro reported on social media that the 26-year-old’s father was found in Barrancas, but she was missing.

Liverpool’s Support and Prioritization

Liverpool stated that “ensuring Diaz’s welfare remains our highest priority.”

“It is our fervent hope that the matter is resolved safely and at the earliest possible opportunity,” the organisation said.

Jurgen Klopp’s Perspective

On Sunday, Liverpool did not include Diaz in its matchday squad for the Premier League match against Nottingham Forest.

Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, described the situation as “worrying for all of us.”

Klopp stated before the match, “There was no doubt that we had to make a late substitution due to the private matter involving Luis Diaz.”

Liverpool players held up Diaz’s shirt after taking the lead in the 3-0 win at Anfield.

Following the match, Klopp stated, “The news we received last night is the most challenging I’ve ever encountered.

“At that point in your career, you may believe you’ve seen it all, but that is not an accurate reflection of our situation. Everything centers on Lucho and his family. We all pray and trust that everything will be in order. A disturbance to the system ensued. “I was at a loss for topics to discuss during the team meeting.”

Colombian Football Federation’s Statement

The Colombian Football Federation extended its condolences to the family and forward as well.

“We express our solidarity with him and his entire family and we call for the relevant authorities to act as quickly as possible to resolve the situation,” a press release stated.

President Petro stated at a news conference on Sunday that the military was also involved in the effort to recover Diaz’s father, while the government and police maintained contact with him.
