The West Midlands Police have arrested a 60-year-old man on suspicion of owning a critically unruly dog.

A man was detained after an American XL bully mix injured an 11-year-old child and two men in Birmingham.

Saturday’s incident in the Bordesley Green neighborhood of the city prompted West Midlands Police to detain a 60-year-old man on suspicion of possessing a dog that was perilously out of control.

A TikTok video showed the dog twice escaping its tether and injuring two persons.

Ana Paun, an 11-year-old victim of the assault, sustained shoulder and arm injuries.

She subsequently said: “I want him [the dog] to go and die. I believe that such canines should be prohibited.”

HOME Secretary Suella Braverman also demanded “urgent advice” on banning American XL bully dogs after the footage went online.

West Midlands Police issued the following statement: “A 60-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a dangerously out-of-control dog”.

He was released on conditions pending further investigation.” Currently, the dog is housed in secure quarters.”

In a previous statement issued on Monday, a force spokesperson said, “We are continuing our investigation after three people were injured in Bordesley Green on Saturday afternoon when a dog escaped from its collar.”

“The bully XL/Staffordshire bull terrier cross-breed puppy pursued an 11-year-old girl, causing severe injuries to her shoulder and forearms. She was hospitalized and is now recuperating at home.

“As the dog escaped its owner for a second time, a 20-year-old man was chased across a garage forecourt and taken to the hospital with bites to his shoulder and forearm, as well as cuts and bruises from being dragged across the floor.”
