11-year-old girl’s electric scooter was stolen after robber threatened to stab her.

The kid was not wounded, but police say she was rattled by her “terrifying incident.”

A thief who threatened to stab an 11-year-old girl in Islington before taking her electric scooter has been imprisoned.

Adam McGeady, 32, was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday, 9 December.

McGeady committed the “terrifying” robbery on September 24, 2020, at approximately 6:15 p.m.

The child is seen riding an electric scooter on Parkfield Street as McGeady approaches her on a bicycle. He threatened to stab her before taking off the scooter.

Police said in a statement that the woman was not wounded, but she was shaken following the incident.

The police were dispatched and began searching for the perpetrator using CCTV footage from the scene and the surrounding area.

After McGeady was captured on camera, authorities sent his photograph to a Metropolitan police database used to identify wanted individuals.

The culprit was later identified, arrested, and charged with robbery in January 2022.

“This would have been a horrible experience for victims of any age, but it was especially distressing for a little child. I’d want to commend her for the courage she displayed throughout our inquiry “Detective Constable Richard Roberts from the Islington local police force stated.

He added: “McGeady is unquestionably a dangerous offender, and I am glad that our inquiry has led to his imprisonment. I believe this sends a clear message that we will not accept such heinous behavior on Islington’s streets “.

Before being sentenced, McGeady pled guilty to robbery.
