Tayla Vlaeminck shines in Australia’s Bangladesh tour sweep

  • Australia wins third T20, concludes Bangladesh tour triumphantly
  • Tayla Vlaeminck shines with 3 wickets, bolstering Australia’s victory
  • Tour sweep includes three T20s and three ODIs

In the third Twenty20 international, Australia’s women’s cricket team concluded a successful tour of Bangladesh with a 77-run victory, bolstering Tayla Vlaeminck’s return from injury.

On Thursday at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, pace bowler Vlaeminck claimed 3-12 from four overs as Bangladesh were dismissed for 78 after Australia posted 6-155 from 20 overs.

With this victory, Australia swept their tour’s three Twenty20s and three ODIs.

It was Vlaeminck’s (25 years old) second match back with the squad following a two-year absence caused by a recurring stress fracture in his foot followed by shoulder surgery.

Considered the most excellent quick in Australia since she was 18 years old, she has appeared in only 29 games across all formats since making her Australian debut in 2018. Injury has plagued her since then.

Vlaeminck endured a series of calamities during his adolescence, which included a shoulder dislocation and three distinct ACL tears by age 20.

Early in the tour finale, Australia was in contention for victory thanks to opener Alyssa Healy’s 45 runs off 29 deliveries. In comparison, Tahlia McGrath amassed an unbeaten 44 runs off 29 balls while batting at No. 5.

The other multiple-wicket taker for the tourists was Georgia Wareham, who amassed 2-1 off 1.1 overs.
