Local media have reported two explosions at Novatek’s chemical storage facility at the Ust-Luga port, located 100 miles southwest of St. Petersburg.

Sunday saw reports of two explosions and a fire at a facility operated by Russia’s second-largest natural gas producer.

Local media reported the explosions at Novatek’s chemical storage facility at the Ust-Luga port, located 100 miles southwest of St. Petersburg. It is believed that a petrol tank detonated during the incident.

The company informed RBC in a statement that the hiccups were due to “external influence,” and all activities at the location had been suspended.

Sunday morning, two drones were spotted flying towards St. Petersburg, according to a distinct local news outlet. The Ukrainian capital has not commented.

The director of Kingisepp, the district where the port is located, Yuri Zapalatsky, reported that there were no casualties but that the region has been issued a high alert.

The Russian Ministry of Defence reports that no drone activity has been detected in the district. However, four Ukrainian drones were shot down over the regions of Smolensk, Oryol, and Tula.

On Thursday, a Ukrainian drone was also shot down near the outskirts of St. Petersburg.

On Sunday in Donetsk, Ukraine, twenty-five individuals were killed when shelling targeted a market across the border.

Russian occupiers report that the Tekstilschik strike injured twenty people, two of them were kids.
