The Foreign Office stated that the visit of the Tajik president to Pakistan was anticipated to “provide a renewed impetus to deepening cooperation between the two countries in a variety of spheres and further consolidate the burgeoning geoeconomic alliance.”

“Pakistan and Tajikistan are two fraternal nations with deep historical, cultural, and religious ties. These bonds are characterized by mutual regard and extraordinary warmth.

“The two countries share views on a variety of regional and international problems,” the statement continued.

The FO also emphasized that as Pakistan’s nearest neighbor in Central Asia, separated by just the narrow Wakhan corridor, Tajikistan was an “essential ally of Pakistan in Central Asia.”
