Police officials report that a motorbike explosion in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar has claimed the lives of at least two individuals.
One individual was injured in the explosion near the city’s Board Bazaar and has since been transported to Lady Reading Hospital. It is anticipated that his condition is critical.
When the motorbike detonated in the city, it was carrying between 4 and 5 kilogrammes (9 to 11 pounds) of explosives, according to Kashif Abbasi, senior superintendent of police operations in Peshawar.
“The explosives prematurely detonated,” Abbasi continued. He refrained from specifying the intended recipient.
A charred motorbike was spotted on camera lying in the centre of the road, surrounded by security personnel. The Geo News television station cordoned off the scene.
As an investigation to ascertain the nature of the detonation commences, counterterrorism officials have been dispatched to the location of the explosion. Kashif Abbasi, the director of police in Peshawar, stated that initial inquiries indicated that the alleged bomber was also fatally wounded in the blast.

The bordering provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan in Pakistan have experienced an increase in armed assaults over the past year, with the TTP and ISIL claiming responsibility for a significant number of these incidents.
A vehicle bombing in the Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province harmed at least 23 soldiers and injured 34 others in December of last year.
Pakistan experienced 664 attacks during the initial eleven months of 2023, a 67 per cent surge compared to the same period in 2022, as reported by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), a research organisation headquartered in Islamabad.
