In the same manner that Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway states she chose to discuss her miscarriage experience, television host Lorraine Kelly has also addressed the loss of her pregnancy over two decades ago.
Anne Hathaway disclosed in 2015 that she experienced a miscarriage while performing in a play that required her to “give birth” each night.
The Academy Award-winning actress disclosed to Vanity Fair that her initial pregnancy was unsuccessful, further stating, “I was in the midst of a play and had to deliver each night on stage.”
The 41-year-old actress was discussing her one-woman performance as a pregnant pilot in the off-Broadway production Grounded.
During the six weeks in which she was required to simulate childbirth every night, she experienced a miscarriage.
She admits to friends who visited her backstage that she disclosed the truth to them because “it was too much to keep in” while she “pretended everything was fine” throughout the performance.
Two sons have been born to Hathaway and her spouse, Adam Shulman, since that time.
In an Instagram post published in July 2019, she declared her second pregnancy after the birth of Jonathan in March 2016. However, she also reflected on her previous challenges with conceiving.
She wrote alongside a photo of herself sporting her baby bulge, “This is not for a film. Aside from all jest, I would like to assure those struggling with infertility and conception that neither of my pregnancies occurred in a direct correlation with those experiences. “I am sending you additional love.”
“It would have appeared dishonest.”
She disclosed to Vanity Fair that she penned the message because “it would have been dishonest to publish something overly upbeat when I knew the story is considerably more complicated than that for everyone, considering the agony I endured while attempting to conceive.”
She further stated that she “would not feel ashamed” of something that appeared “relatively commonplace from a statistical standpoint.”
Hathaway stated that the prevalence of miscarriages subsequently took her aback.
“Where is this information, I pondered?” What is the cause of our unnecessary sense of isolation? At that juncture, we sustain harm. Following this, I made the deliberate choice to engage in a discussion regarding the subject.
Years after she published the message, she frequently received heartfelt embraces from women, whose responses “blew my mind,” she said.
She stated, “And I would simply hold her because she was carrying this [pain] around, and it was no longer entirely hers.”
It is only sometimes necessary to exhibit decorum.
“You don’t always have to be graceful,” she advised her sisters, “When it did go well for me, having been on the other side of it, where being happy for someone requires grace, I wanted to let them know that grace is not always a prerequisite.”
“I have been you, and I see you.”
Jack, the second son of Hathaway, was born in November of 2019.
In the interim, television host Lorraine Kelly has discussed a miscarriage she endured over two decades ago and applauded the increased frequency of conversations regarding the experience of miscarriage.

She elaborated on discussions about miscarriages: “I believe it is beneficial that we engage in more dialogue about such matters. As we are more forthcoming, you ought to be as well. You ought to be permitted to lament and experience the entire process most comfortably.
While some do not wish to discuss it, others do.
“It didn’t happen for us,” says Kelly, who has one adult daughter named Rosie. She further explains, “By the time you realise it’s not occurring… I had just turned forty years old and believed our time had passed.
This year, the Bafta television awards will present a special accolade to the Scottish television host for her four decades in the industry.
Hathaway will next be seen in the Wednesday release of the suspense film Mother’s Instinct in the United Kingdom.
