According to scientists, Rakus, a male Sumatran orangutan, exhibited a specific behavior in which he tore leaves and chewed on them before administering the resulting mixture to a wound below his right eye. A first for wild animals, an orangutan was observed using a plant with healing properties to treat a laceration on its face, according to scientists.

A purported global first, China has launched a probe to collect samples from the far side of the Moon. The Chang'e-6 probe was deployed from the Wenchang Space Launch Center atop an unmanned rocket at approximately 17:27 local time (10:27 BST). The objective of the 53-day mission is to return to Earth for analysis of approximately two kilograms of lunar samples.
