The 24-hour strike will occur over a football weekend, with Premier League games in several locations likely to be disrupted.

As a result of a protracted disagreement over wages and working conditions, train drivers from several businesses have announced a new strike, causing new disruptions for rail passengers.

Train drivers have announced a weekend strike, causing additional disruptions for rail travelers.

The 24-hour strike on Saturday, August 13 will certainly affect Premier League games in Manchester, London, Birmingham, and Brighton.

The strike, which is being organized by members of the Aslef union, will impact Arriva Rail London, Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, Greater Anglia, Great Western, Hull Trains, LNER, London Overground, Southeastern, and West Midlands Trains.

Schedules are scheduled to be released on August 9; however, travelers are recommended to adhere to the most recent travel advice, check before departing, and allow extra time for their journey.

While firms not involved in the strike will continue to operate trains, ridership is expected to increase.

The strike action will also impact trains operating on the morning of Sunday, August 14. Passengers are advised to begin their journeys later in the day.

Numerous strikes have been held so far this year, with unions demanding a salary raise in response to the growing cost of living and voicing worries about job security and working conditions.

An RMT walkout became the largest British rail strike 30 years earlier this summer.

In recent weeks, there have been considerable discussions on the concerns, but the debate remains unresolved.

We must modernize and evolve.

Steve Montgomery, chairman of the Rail Delivery Group, stated, “We’re disappointed that the Aslef leadership has, for the second time in as many weeks, opted to disrupt the weekend plans of passengers and companies.”

As with any service or business, things are constantly changing, and we must adapt. We want to give our employees a raise since we realize that everyone is feeling the squeeze of the rising cost of living.”

He warned that additional strikes would leave people “out of pocket” and asked Aslef leaders to negotiate a “fair to staff and taxpayers” agreement.

Mr. Montgomery stated, “I am available to speak with the Aslef leadership now, tomorrow, or any time during the next week.”

They should cancel next week’s action and instead speak with us. Our passengers and employees anticipate that we will communicate and find a solution.”

Can refunds be issued?

Passengers with advance, off-peak, or anytime tickets who are impacted by the strike may use their ticket either the day before the date it was scheduled to be used or until August 16.

Additionally, they can amend their tickets to a different date.

If their train is canceled or postponed, passengers are eligible for a refund.

Are any other strikes planned?

On the 18th and 20th of August, RMT members at Network Rail and 14 train operators will participate in two more days of strike action.

The Transport Salaried Staffs’ Association (TSSA) has also committed to striking on the same days at seven railway operating firms.

This will have an impact on the services provided by Avanti West Coast, c2c, East Midlands Railway, CrossCountry, Great Western Railway, LNER, and Southeastern.

On August 19, London Underground workers will also go on strike.
