Sir Terry Wogan’s wife Lady Helen has died, her son Mark announced in a sorrowful Instagram post.

He posted a black and white photo of his parents on the social networking platform, captioned ‘Lady Helen Wogan – 1936-2024.

Lady Helen was married to the late broadcaster for over 50 years, until his death from cancer in January 2016.

The couple have four children and five grandkids together.

Their son Mark paid tribute to a ‘wonderful’ mother and grandma as he revealed his mother’s death on Thursday.

He wrote, “Our beautiful Mum left us last night after a fantastic life.” From a young Irish rose to Lady Wogan, she exemplified flair and grace.

‘She is a mother, grandmother, and wife who values love and kindness. A fortitude and belief that helped her get over many of life’s difficulties.

‘A sense of humor and a turn of phrase that will make you giggle.

‘A proper lady in every sense of the term. She and Dad are probably sharing a vodka martini and hoping we don’t cause too much of a ruckus. We love you, Mum, now and forever.

Celebrities expressed their sorrow as they led the tributes to Lady Helen in the comments section.

Jeremy Clarkson wrote: “Horrible when it happens.” ‘I am thinking of you.

“Take a step towards financial freedom – claim your free Webull shares now!”

Eamonn Holmes said, ‘Mark, I’m sorry to hear. What a woman. What a couple. My heartfelt sympathies to you.

Tess Daly of Strictly Come Dancing commented, ‘Thinking of you at this time.’

Ronan Keating added: “Sending love, matey.” God bless you all.’

Lady Helen married Sir Terry in a parish church in Rathmines, Dublin, in April 1965.

The couple shared a residence in Taplow, Buckinghamshire, but also owned a second home in Gascony, southwestern France.

Sir Terry died on January 31, 2016, at the age of 77, following a cancer diagnosis.
