During the holiday season, hundreds of thousands of workers in numerous economic sectors, including those at Heathrow airport, as well as nurses, postal workers, and ambulance personnel, have announced strike action.

After road workers scheduled 12 days of strikes to coincide with rail walkouts, travelers have been warned to brace for additional holiday mayhem.

The PCS union said that National Highways personnel who operate and repair roads in England will participate in a series of staggering strikes from December 16 to January 7.

The PCS union’s general secretary, Mark Serwotka, stated that the government’s refusal to listen to its workforce has put the union’s members in this predicament. “We are aware that our members’ actions may cause inconvenience to those planning to visit family during the holiday season,” he said.

Due to the severe cost of the living problem, they should be well compensated for the crucial work they do to maintain our roads safe and open.

Planning and implementing projects, as well as providing vital safety services like as rolling roadblocks, smart motorways, and lane closures, are among the duties of traffic policemen.

The strikes, which threaten to put the road network to a halt, will coincide with planned rail strikes by RMT members.

Here are the dates that each region will be impacted by road strikes:

• December 16 and 17 – North West, Yorkshire, and the North East
• December 22, 23, 24, and 25 – London and South East
• December 30 and 31 – West Midlands and South West
• January 3 and 4 – All regions
• January 6 and 7 – Eastern England and the East Midlands

The rail strikes are scheduled for December 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, and 17, and January 3, 4, 6, and 7.

Ground handlers at Heathrow have also said that they will go on strike before the holiday season over a salary issue.

350 Menzies employees will walk off the job at 4:00 a.m. on December 16 for three days.

The airport has advised its partners affected by the strikes to “maintain their contingency planning” and stated that it will assist them in “minimizing the impact on passengers.”

During the holiday season, hundreds of thousands of workers from all sectors of the economy, including nurses, postal workers, and ambulance personnel, have announced strike action.

Ministers have a heavy workload.

Mick Lynch, general secretary of the RMT union, met with government ministers earlier on Friday to discuss preventing strike action in December, and he told that “discussions are continuing over the weekend.”

“We’ll see what happens next,” he remarked.

He noted that the administration takes the strikes “seriously” but that “a lot is happening in society at the moment.”

He stated, “They [ministers] have a lot on their plates.”

As a result of the ongoing strike action by its employees, Royal Mail is urging consumers to mail their Christmas cards and gifts earlier than usual to avoid disruptions to postal services.

Eurostar security personnel are also scheduled to strike on December 16, 18, 22, and 23.

In the coming weeks, several departments, including the Home Office, are anticipated to announce industrial action.
