Two police units were reportedly scouring the area, according to Sky correspondent Sabah Choudhry. The infant, which is believed to be approximately two months old, is also being sought after by special agents.

Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford told. “We are presently investigating all possible locations where the baby could be in the open land.

“This will include a search of outbuildings and any other location. Where the infant could have been abandoned by the parents to escape the harsh weather.

The search will involve every facility in the area and extend into the surrounding wilderness to locate the child.

While the couple is still in custody, DSI Basford stated that no additional information regarding the baby’s location has been gleaned from interrogating them.

“I have always remained hopeful that the child is alive. And the investigation we have conducted is all about the safe recovery and location of the baby,” he added.

Marten’s father, Napier Marten, told The Independent that finding the pair was a “huge relief.” But that it would have been “much better” if they had turned themselves in sooner.

It was “very concerning news” that her infant had not yet been located, he added.

Marten, 35, and Gordon, 48, were reported missing after their vehicle broke down near junction four of the M61, near Bolton, on Thursday, 5 January.

In the days that followed, they were spotted in several locations, including Liverpool, Essex, south London, and East Sussex.

Authorities had previously believed that the couple had been sleeping rough in a blue tent and had evaded police capture by moving frequently and covering their features in CCTV images.

In the days following their disappearance, DSI Basford stated that the infant was “at the center of the investigation” and that concerns for the child’s well-being grew “day by day.
