A British woman has been fatally stabbed during a home invasion in Australia.
Emma Lovell, 41, a native of Ipswich, died on Boxing Day night after confronting intruders in her North Lakes, Brisbane, home, according to police.
Lee Lovell, her 43-year-old husband, who was also stabbed, described his wife as “the glue of our family.”
Two seventeen-year-old males have been charged with murder.
Mr. Lovell, whose injuries did not threaten his life, told reporters that his family was “devastated.”
“Emma held our family together,” he claimed.
“She was such a lovely individual. We are all utterly crushed by her passing.
“It makes no sense. I have no idea why people do that.”
The Lovells are parents of two girls.
Mr. Lovell, who is also from the Ipswich region, posted pictures of the group on Christmas Day at a Sunshine Coast beach close by.
The Queensland Police Service (QPS) stated in a statement that an altercation occurred inside a Whitfield Crescent residence at 23:30 UTC and “went outside into the front yard.”
“Two suspects fled on foot before the arrival of police,” the report stated, and “investigators, with the assistance of the dog squad, identified four juveniles at a nearby site just before 04:00” on 27 December.
Two 17-year-old lads, one from Holland Park and the other from Zillmere, were charged with one count each of murder, attempted murder, and unlawful entry into the company, according to the Queensland Police Service.
Both were denied bail by the police and were scheduled to appear before the Brisbane Children’s Court.
The police stated that a 17-year-old and a 16-year-old continue to assist with investigations.
