A 15-year-old boy and girl have been charged with the stabbing death of 16-year-old Brianna Ghey, which occurred in a village park.

On Saturday, the transgender student was discovered lying injured on a trail in Linear Park in Culcheth, Cheshire.

According to her family, she was a beloved daughter, grandchild, and sister.

The girl from Warrington and the boy from Leigh were remanded to youth custody by the Chester Magistrates’ Court.

Thursday is their court date at Liverpool Crown Court.

The couple, who appeared separately and confirmed their identity, address, and age, were not obliged to enter pleas.

Throughout the hearing, both were backed by their parents and flanked by a dock officer.

Cheshire Police previously stated that there was no indication that Brianna’s murder was motivated by hatred. But on Tuesday officers stated that all lines of inquiry, including hate crime, were “being investigated.”

The two adolescents were charged with murder by officers who were granted extra time to question them.

Tuesday, in Liverpool and Bristol, members of the transgender community organized candlelight vigils for Brianna.

Manchester, Glasgow, and Leeds will host other UK vigils later.

The Birchwood, Warrington, relatives of Brianna described her as “beautiful, witty, and entertaining.”

They described her as “powerful, bold, and one-of-a-kind” with a “character larger than life.”

They continued, “The loss of her young life has left an enormous void in our family.”

The public discovered Brianna with stab wounds and phoned 911 just after 15:00 GMT on Saturday, according to Cheshire Police.

Detectives previously reported a post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death.

Additional police patrols have been dispatched to the popular dog-walking area.

At the park’s entrance, flowers and other memorials have been placed by admirers. One version reads: “Fly high, our pink angel.”

Brianna’s large Tik Tok fanbase has also been remembered.

People from the transgender community have hailed her social media content as a tremendous source of support, with one online acquaintance stating that she “defended me and listened to my rants when I needed it most.”

One tweet stated, “She was always so lovely to me,” while another called her a “sweet angel” and “beautiful daughter.”

I learned of her through Tik Tok… I’m absolutely at a loss for words… my heart bleeds for her,” remarked a third individual.

Donations on a GoFundMe campaign created for Brianna’s family, which stated that the student was “excited to take her examinations this year,” have surpassed £85,000.
