Man thrusts woman in front of Tube train, prompting police appeal

The British Transport Police are investigating the incident at Leicester Square station as an attempted assassination.
The police are pursuing a man who attempted to shove a woman in front of a London Underground train.

Detectives are seeking witnesses in connection with the “attempted murder” that occurred at Leicester Square station on Monday, November 6, at approximately 3.30 p.m.

The victim was waiting on a platform when she witnessed the assailant disputing with an elderly man, according to the British Transport Police.

He then approached her, seized her arm, and initiated a drag.

She managed to make a fleeting escape, but he recaptured her arm as a train approached the crowded London station.

According to investigators, the man then “began pushing her towards the tracks.”

Two additional passengers intervened and rescued the woman by pulling her away from the assailant.

It is believed that the suspect evaded by boarding the train.

The individual is described as having a muscular build and is in his late 20s. He adorned himself with a short puffer jacket and threw a beige shawl over his head.

Police urge those who witnessed the incident, including those who intervened, to contact them.
