Russian airstrikes kill six in Kharkiv’s crowded DIY store

  1. Six dead in Kharkiv DIY store attack condemned by Zelenskyy
  2. Explosives hit crowded store, leaving many injured and missing
  3. Kharkiv faces ongoing assaults; Zelenskyy calls for global support

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the strikes as a “brutal attack” as video footage captured the site’s immense clouds of dark smoke ascending into the sky.

Russian assaults have resulted in the deaths of at least six individuals after a crowded DIY store in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv was targeted, according to regional officials.

According to Kharkiv regional governor Oleh Syniehubov, the hypermarket was struck by two guided explosives, which resulted in the injuries of numerous individuals and the instigation of a significant fire that firefighters were unable to control.

He also stated that 40 individuals were injured in the attack, and 16 individuals are still unaccounted for. Additionally, at least two of the deceased were store employees.

According to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, approximately 120 individuals were present when the explosives exploded.

The retail center, which was crowded, was the target of the attack; he declared that it was unmistakably a terrorist act.

According to Andriy Kudinov, the director of the suburban shopping center, who spoke to local media, the hardware store was full of consumers purchasing items for their summer cottages.

Witnesses described panicked scenes at the retail center, as large clouds of dark smoke rose into the sky from the site. Firefighters’ vehicles and rescuers were seen en route to the scene. Video footage captured this event.

Dmytro Syrotenko, who sustained a substantial facial injury, stated, “I was at my place of employment.”

“I heard the initial impact, and my colleague and I both fell to the ground.” The second strike occurred, and we were enveloped in detritus. Then, we began to crawl to the higher ground.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, denounced the missiles as a “brutal attack” and renewed his call for additional air defense capabilities to safeguard the city of approximately 1.3 million residents.

He stated that this responsibility must be fulfilled and can only be achieved in collaboration with the globe.

Mr. Syniehubov reported that a missile struck a residential building in the heart of Kharkiv in a separate incident, resulting in the injuries of 18 individuals.

The missile caused a crater several meters in depth in the pavement at the base of the building, which also served as a beauty salon, post office, and café.

Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, has been the subject of numerous Russian attacks for an extended period. The town is approximately 18 miles (30 km) from the Russian frontier.

In his nocturnal video address on Friday, Mr. Zelenskyy announced that Ukrainian forces have achieved “combat control” over the areas where Russian troops had previously entered the north-eastern Kharkiv region earlier this month.

However, his remarks contradicted those of Russian officials.

According to Tass, the Russian state news agency, Viktor Vodolatsky, a member of Russia’s lower house of parliament, stated that Russian forces currently possess authority over more than half of the town of Vovchansk, which is located three miles inside the border.

Hydrogen driving: We test the fuel cell Ineos Grenadier

Electric vehicles are the future, and everyone agrees on that. That is the mantra offered to motorists who are encouraged to convert to EVs. However, not everyone agrees that the future of motoring will be entirely dominated by plug-in electric vehicles; some believe hydrogen fuel cells may play an essential role. Ineos, owned by buccaneering boss Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is already developing a robust 4x4 EV called the Fusilier, but it is also considering hydrogen power.
