Edward Enninful OBE, the editor-in-chief of British Vogue, has been recognized by the Powerlist 2024 as the most influential black individual in the United Kingdom.

The annual list, compiled by Powerful Media, honors individuals of African, African Caribbean, and African American descent. It is currently in its eighteenth year of highlighting black role models for youth.

In addition to Afua Kyei, the chief financial officer of the Bank of England, Steven Bartlett, a Dragon’s Den personality and podcaster, will be included on the 2024 list.

Although he was the first black man to occupy the top position at the British fashion magazine, Enninful announced earlier this year that he would be resigning to assist in the global expansion of the brand and concentrate on other endeavors.

Moreover, he serves as the editorial director for Condé Nast in Europe.

Being at the top of the list, which the 51-year-old described as an honor, “illuminates black people who are truly breaking boundaries, who are fearless, and who champion what it means to be truly diverse in their own industries.”

Born in Ghana, Enninful immigrated to London with his parents and six siblings when he was a young child. He was discovered on a train as an adolescent and briefly engaged in modeling.

At the age of 18, he began his editorial career as the fashion director of i-D, a British youth culture magazine. He became the youngest editor-in-chief of a major international fashion newspaper.
