The US has stated that Russia and Iran have developed a full-fledged defense collaboration.
John Kirby, a spokesman for the US national security council, states that Russia is providing unprecedented military support.
He adds that the United States is aware of rumors that the two nations are discussing the combined development of lethal drones.
Iran first refuted Ukraine’s accusation that it supplied Russia with “kamikaze” drones used in deadly assaults on October 17.
The Middle Eastern nation later confessed to supplying a small number of drones to Moscow “several months” before the war.
In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that this was a fraud and that many more Iranian drones were in use.
In the early hours of Saturday, the Ukrainian air force reportedly shot down 10 of 15 such drones deployed to strike southern regions.
Mr. Zelensky stated in his nightly address that more than 1.5 million people in Odessa were left without electricity as a result of the strikes and that it could take days for the lights to be restored.
Australia previously issued sanctions against three Iranians and one Iranian company for supplying Russia with drones used against Ukraine.
Mr. Kirby stated on Friday that a drone production agreement between Iran and Russia would be detrimental to Ukraine, Iran’s neighbors, and the international community.
Russia seeks to partner with Iran in areas like weapon development and training,” he said, adding that the United States is concerned that Russia intends to “supply Iran with advanced military components” such as helicopters and air defense systems.
He stated, “Iran has become Russia’s biggest military ally.” “Russia has been employing Iranian drones to attack energy infrastructure, depriving millions of Ukrainians of electricity, heat, and other essential services. People are currently dying in Ukraine as a result of Iran’s actions.”
In reaction to Mr. Kirby’s remarks, the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom, James Cleverly, stated that Iran had become one of Russia’s primary military backers and that their relationship threatened world security.
According to him, Iran has sent hundreds of drones to Russia as a result of “sleazy negotiations” between the two countries.
“In exchange, Russia is providing the Iranian dictatorship with military and technical support, which will heighten the threat it poses to our friends in the Middle East and international security,” he continued.
He stated that the United Kingdom agreed with the United States that Iranian support for the Russian military would increase in the following months as Russia attempted to acquire additional weapons, including hundreds of ballistic missiles.
Saturday, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong issued the following statement: “The delivery of drones to Russia demonstrates Iran’s role in destabilizing global security. This listing emphasizes that people who help Russia with material support will face consequences.”
She also announced penalties against 19 other individuals and two organizations, including Iran’s Morality Police, for the cruel treatment of anti-government protestors after the murder of Mahsa Amini, 22, in jail earlier this year.
