Harvey Weinstein faces a lawsuit from British actress Julia Ormond, who has appeared alongside Brad Pitt and Harrison Ford, alleging sexual assault in 1995 and subsequent career obstruction.
Julia Ormond, a British actress, is suing Harvey Weinstein for sexually assaulting her in 1995.
Ormond, known for her roles alongside Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt in the 1990s, claims she was on the brink of stardom when she met Weinstein in 1994.
She alleges in her lawsuit that they continued to discuss scripts and projects, eventually entering into a production agreement with Miramax, where Weinstein was co-chairman.
Weinstein, 71, has been in prison since 2020 on rape and sexual assault charges, with a subsequent rape conviction last year, and has appealed both convictions.

Ormond has now come forward with sexual assault allegations, detailing an incident that occurred after a meeting in December 1995, which she claims derailed her career when she confronted Weinstein several weeks later.
The actress says she informed her US-based agents at the time, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), but received no assistance. She holds CAA, Miramax, and Walt Disney Co. accountable for allegedly failing to prevent Weinstein in her lawsuit.
The lawsuit states that these prominent companies did not warn Ormond about Weinstein’s history of assaulting women because of his importance, power, and profitability.
While Ormond had previously discussed her sexual assault experience, notably in an interview with Variety magazine, this is her first public accusation against Weinstein.
She has filed the lawsuit in the Manhattan state Supreme Court under the Adult Survivors Act, a law enacted the previous year that extends the time frame for individuals alleging sexual assault to file their cases beyond regular deadlines.
Weinstein’s attorney, Imran Ansari, stated that Weinstein “categorically denies the allegations made against him by Julia Ormond and is prepared to vehemently defend himself.”
