Taylor Schabusiness rushed at her attorney as he requested a postponement of her case. She is accused of strangling a man, in addition to sexually abusing him and dismembering his body.
A woman accused of murder and mutilating a corpse was photographed assaulting her attorney at a court hearing in the United States.
Tuesday, while appearing in court in Wisconsin, Taylor Schabusiness leaped at her attorney, Quinn Jolly.
Mr. Jolly asked two weeks so a defence expert could assess his client’s competency to stand trial.
WLUK-TV said that when Judge Thomas Walsh grudgingly agreed to postpone Schabusiness’ trial, she struck Mr. Jolly and was thrown to the courthouse floor by security guards.
The Green Bay courtroom was subsequently evacuated before the session resumed.
Schabusiness has been charged with first-degree international homicide, mutilation of a corpse. And third-degree sexual assault in connection with Shad Thyrion’s death in February of last year.
Authorities believe she strangled, sexually abused, and dismembered Mr. Thyrion at a Green Bay residence, leaving his body parts scattered throughout a house and a vehicle.
The defendant, age 25, has pleaded not guilty and is being jailed on a $2 million (£1.6 million) cash bond.
The judge postponed the competence hearing until March 6 after Schabusiness’ outburst in court.
Mr. Jolly informed the court after the hearing that he would file a motion to withdraw as Schabusiness’s attorney. But the judge did not make a decision immediately.
