The family of a “bright and effervescent” teen who was fatally stabbed has paid her homage.
Holly Newton was a beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, and cousin, as well as a brilliant dancer who “touched so many hearts,” according to those who knew her.
On Friday, a 15-year-old girl who “had her entire life ahead of her” was fatally injured in Hexham, Northumberland.
A 16-year-old boy has appeared in Newcastle Youth Court and been remanded into custody after being charged with murder.
Holly was always a well-liked young lady, not only in Hexham but throughout the entire North East, according to her relatives.
“Holly was also a gifted dancer who devoted a significant portion of her free time to classes and national contests.
We are still coming to grips with the idea that our lovely and beloved daughter is no longer with us.
“Our lives will never be the same without you, and we pray for your eternal rest. You touched so many hearts, and you will be greatly missed by your family and friends.”
They also expressed gratitude for the community’s “support and nice comments” and requested privacy to grieve.

Northumbria Police Chief Superintendent Sam Rennison encouraged the public not to speculate on her passing.
“Now that a young kid has been charged in connection with this incident, I’d like to remind everyone to avoid any speculation – both in the community and on social media – that could jeopardize the ongoing legal procedures,” she said.
Holly, a resident of Haltwhistle, was critically injured in the Priestpopple neighborhood of Hexham on Friday at approximately 17:10 GMT and later died in the hospital.
Another 16-year-old was sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is currently in stable condition.
The juvenile charged with murder, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, is also charged with attempted murder and possession of a deadly weapon.
In court, he wore a grey sweatshirt and spoke only to affirm his identity, age, and address. Also his comprehension of the charges brought against him.
He was remanded in custody and will appear in court on 1 February at the Newcastle Crown Court.
