An accident between a vehicle and a student on the way to school has resulted in the fatalities of a boy and injured another child.

At 8:20 a.m. on Friday, emergency services were dispatched to Stock Road in Stock, Essex, located south of Chelmsford.

Alerted by reports of a vehicle colliding with two children, they rushed to the location.

An airlift transported the second infant to the hospital for treatment. The ages of the children were not disclosed immediately.

Arrest Made in Suspected DUI Case

A 23-year-old male has been apprehended on suspicion of driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs or alcohol with the intent to cause death, grievous injury, or both. His apprehension continues.

School Community Mourns

Headmaster Damian Lee of 1.5-mile-away Mayflower High School in Billericay wrote to parents that the two youngsters attend.

“I regret to inform you that two of our students were involved in a traffic collision this morning,” he composed in his letter.

“One of the students has tragically died, and the other has been airlifted to the hospital.”

A dedicated police liaison staff is providing assistance to the families of the students.

Detective Inspector Mark Fraser, of the severe collision investigation unit of Essex Police, stated, “It is abundantly clear that this is an utterly tragic incident that will be felt by a great number of local residents, including the families of the two young victims.”
