A second victim sustained critical injuries after being struck by the vehicle outside the Bay Horse in Cramlington. Two males and one woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
A murder investigation has been initiated following the death of a 55-year-old man outside a tavern in Northumberland.
A van struck the victim and another man, also 55, outside the Bay Horse in Cramlington on Saturday around 10 p.m.
According to Northumbria Police, the incident was precipitated by a purported disturbance within the building.
The man died at the scene, while the other man struck by the vehicle was transported to the hospital with severe injuries and is in critical condition.
Three individuals, ages 32, 37, and 27, have been detained on suspicion of homicide.
According to the police, a vehicle was found in Blyth.
Detective Superintendent Jane Fairlamb stated, “This is a tragic incident in which one man has died and another has been hospitalized with significant injuries.
“Our sympathies are with their families during this difficult time, and we ask that their privacy be respected.”
She added that Cramlington and Blyth will get more police, but “no wider danger to the public at large.”
