The Princess of Wales has paid tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth in a Christmas Eve special broadcast.
Catherine stated that the Queen “kept Christmas close to her heart” because it “reminded us of the significance of faith, friendship, and family.”
The service at Westminster Abbey was open to anyone who has been recognized for exhibiting community ideals.
It is the first royal carol service since September when the Queen passed away.
The Together at Christmas event was hosted on December 15 with sponsorship from the Prince and Princess of Wales’s charity, the Royal Foundation.
Inna Hryhorovych, the headmistress of St Mary’s Ukrainian School in London, was honored at the ceremony.
Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February, the school’s enrollment has increased by over double.
Students from the school performed during the occasion at Westminster Abbey, and Ms. Hryhorovych received a letter of commendation from the princess for her efforts.
In the letter, she states that the school is “a lifeline for the entire town” and is only feasible “because of your tremendous effort and commitment.”
The service will be televised on ITV1 on Christmas Eve at 19:00 GMT as part of Royal Carols: Together At Christmas, a program presented by Catherine Zeta-Jones.
In addition, the Westminster Abbey choir, Craig David, Alexis Ffrench, Alfie Boe, and Melanie C performed during the ceremony. Prince of Wales, Dame Kristin Scott Thomas, and Nicola Adams provided readings.
