Prince William, who founded the 2020 Earthshot Prize to “repair and regenerate” the world, fed Londoners Earthshot veggie burgers.

Prince of Wales served vegetarian burgers at a food truck, much to the delight of the customers.

He provided meals to “shell-shocked” diners in central London to promote awareness of the Earthshot Prize’s eco-friendly winners.

The future king invited the team behind the popular YouTube channel Sorted Food to create, cook, and distribute Earthshot burgers using products manufactured by the three 2022 prize winners.

Ingredients for the burgers were grown in a “greenhouse-in-a-box” designed by an Indian company called Kheyti and cooked in a Mukuru clean stove developed in Kenya to reduce air pollution. They were served in London-made biodegradable Notpla containers.

“Morning everyone – nicely cooked and ready to go,” “Chef” Prince William announced to the stunned diners aboard the car.

“Therefore, for those unaware, the Earthshot Prize is intended to repair and regenerate the planet,” he explained. “Everything you see here comes from last year’s victors. Notpla, a seaweed-coated firm, made your box.

The chefs prepared a potato-based, garlicky, gingery, and peppery burger topped with pickled vegetables and served in a bun.

“My brain took three seconds to buffer,” said one diner upon seeing Prince William behind the counter. “Am I in a dream? “Have I slept enough?”

“I was speechless,” said another.

Jamie Spafford, co-founder of Sorted Food, a company known for advocating environmentally friendly food solutions, said: “Having Prince William join us at our studio and in the food truck was a ‘pinch me’ moment.

Hearing him describe how passionate he is about helping the planet and what the Earthshot Prize is doing was immensely motivating, and has given us a great deal of inspiration for future community projects.

The Earthshot incentive is a global environmental incentive established in 2020 by Prince William and The Royal Foundation to “discover, accelerate, and scale ground-breaking solutions to repair and regenerate the planet.”

There are five categories addressing nature, air, oceans, waste, and climate, and the first winners will be announced in 2021. Each will receive £1 million to expand their innovative initiatives.
