The unidentified athlete was arrested following charges of rape against a lady in her twenties. While he was in jail, he was additionally detained on suspicion of raping a different lady between April and June 2021.
A Premier League player arrested on suspicion of rape will not be suspended, according to his club.
The unidentified athlete was arrested in Barnet, north London, earlier this month on suspicion of having raped a lady in her 20s in June.
A man in his 20s was apprehended while in detention on suspicion of raping a separate woman in April and June of last year.
He has rejected the charges and has been released on bail until August.
The club, which has also not been identified, issued the following statement: “We are aware of the claims that are the subject of an ongoing police investigation.
“We have established that the athlete rejects the charges and is out on bail pending the conclusion of the police’s investigation.” There have been no charges brought, and the player is free to fulfill his professional obligations, including travel.”
It said that it takes its obligations seriously and has adhered to its protection measures.
The statement ended, “We will keep this topic under close study and revisit it if circumstances change.”
