More than six weeks have passed since investigators discovered the car in which Constance Marten and Mark Gordon were believed to be traveling. Police have released two new CCTV clips from January 8, the last time the duo was seen.
Two new CCTV clips of a missing aristocrat and her convicted sex offender partner. Who have been missing with their infant for over six weeks, have been released.
The currency they took with them, according to police, is “coming to an end.”
The 35-year-old Constance Marten and her 48-year-old companion Mark Gordon went missing on January 5 after their burning vehicle was discovered on the M61 in Bolton, Greater Manchester. It is believed that she gave birth in or near the vehicle only two days ago.
The infant and Ms. Marten have not received medical attention.
Officers claim they do not know if the infant was born prematurely or has any health concerns. Which is why they “remain committed to locating the family.”
Authorities believe the couple has been rough-sleeping in a blue tent and are concerned for the child’s safety.
Tuesday, police released two new CCTV recordings depicting the couple in two locations in Newhaven, East Sussex, on January 8, their last confirmed sighting.
The couple has evaded capture by the police thus far by moving frequently and concealing their identities in CCTV images. Police believe they could be anywhere in the United Kingdom at this time.
The first video, captured at 5:18 a.m. at a petrol station on Avis Road in Newhaven, showed the couple carrying numerous bags. They stopped for a brief conversation before proceeding down the road.
The second image, captured by a home surveillance camera on Cantercrow Hill in Newhaven at 6:25 a.m., shows the couple carrying what are presumably the same bags, strolling quickly down the road.
In a renewed police appeal to locate the couple, Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford stated, “We know… they had access to a substantial amount of currency. And we continue to believe that they will have access to cash as of today.
“However, we are also aware that Constance and Mark’s day-to-day living expenses will increase as a result of their newborn child’s needs. We are aware that they will soon be in a position where they will no longer have access to funds.”
He added that officers have observed over 660 hours of CCTV footage as part of their search efforts.
Following previous appeals, according to DS Basford, the police have received over 350 tips from the general public. Since it was first announced in January, a reward of £10,000 is still being offered.
“Real concern for health and wellness”
DS Basford said the pair was camping in Newhaven and Sussex with a blue two-person tent.
“It is our responsibility to ensure that the infant, Constance, and Mark are healthy and safe,” he explained.
Shereen Nimmo, director of midwifery for the Barts Health NHS Trust, issued an appeal directly to Ms. Marten, urging her to have her infant examined by a doctor.
She emphasized that it was “not too late” for the child to undergo these examinations, but the longer the couple goes without medical care, the more they “endanger [their] child.”
Where have they been observed thus far?
In addition to the CCTV footage released by police today, detectives believe that the family traveled to Liverpool and then Harwich, Essex via taxi at approximately 3:45 a.m. on Friday, January 6.
Additionally, they have been seen in east London. They were observed carrying sleeping bags and two pillows on Saturday, January 7. They spent the following few hours in the vicinity of Whitechapel Road before walking to Brick Lane.
At approximately 11.46 p.m., they discarded several items, including a stroller, and took a taxi to Haringey, north London, before taking another taxi to East Sussex in the early hours of January 8th.
On Sunday at approximately 6:00 a.m. in Newhaven, they were spotted seeking shelter from the rain beneath a bridge. After approximately fifteen minutes, they walked into the fields beyond Cantercrow Hill.
It is believed that they have traveled a considerable distance since then.
In 2016, Ms. Marten, a member of an affluent aristocratic family, met Gordon for the first time. At the time, she was a promising drama student.
Since then, the pair has lived in seclusion, and in September, when Ms. Marten was well into her pregnancy. They started moving between rental apartments.
Gordon served 20 years in an American prison for a 14-year-old rape and assault.
